Delete your account
Last updated October 15, 2026.
The short version
- If you set up the household, open Settings in the app and choose Delete household. That deletes the whole household, for everybody on it.
- If you joined someone else’s household, open Settings and choose Delete my account. That deletes you, and leaves the household’s shared budget, cards and history with the household.
- No app, or cannot sign in? Email privacy@yourcardsentry.com from the address on your account and we will do it for you.
- Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone, so download your own copy first.
Which deletion is yours
A YourCardSentry account belongs to a household. The person who set it up is the household’s primary; everyone they invited joins as a member. What you can delete depends on which you are:
- The primary deletes the household — every member, every connected bank and every record of the household.
- A member deletes their own account. The household carries on without them.
Both are done in the app, on the web at app.yourcardsentry.com or in the Android app, and neither needs us. Neither needs an active subscription either: deleting is a right, not a paid feature.
If you set up the household
- Sign in and open Settings.
- Choose Delete household. The screen names everybody else on the household, because they are deleted too.
- Type your household’s name to confirm, and delete. It runs straight away.
What is deleted
- Every connected bank is revoked at Plaid first, before anything else is touched, so nothing can read those banks again.
- Every member’s account — their login, profile, address, household answers, demographic answers, notification settings and verified phone number.
- Everything the household holds — connected cards, transactions, budgets, past budget periods, alerts and alert history, and invitations.
- Every member’s sign-in, so nobody on the household can sign back in to it.
It deletes other people’s data along with yours, and they are not asked first. If a bank will not accept the revocation, the deletion stops before anything is removed and the app tells you which bank refused; email privacy@yourcardsentry.com and we will finish it with you.
If you joined a household
- Sign in and open Settings.
- Choose Delete my account, confirm, and delete.
If your household has not finished setting up or paying yet, Settings is not open to you. Use the Account menu at the top of the screen and choose Delete my account there instead. The screen that asks you to confirm your age offers Delete my account too.
What is deleted
- Your login, so you can no longer sign in.
- Your profile — your address and household answers.
- Your demographic answers, if you gave any.
- Your notification settings, and your verified phone number.
What stays with the household
The household’s shared budget, its connected cards and its transaction history stay with the household. They belong to the household rather than to any one person on it, and the budget everyone shares would stop adding up if part of its spending disappeared when somebody left.
- Banks you connected stay connected, for the household.
- A card in your name stays in the budget, with nobody shown as its holder.
You do not need the primary’s permission, and leaving does not delete anybody else.
If the household’s primary removes you, your account is deleted the same way, with the same things deleted and the same things staying with the household.
Asking us to delete it, without the app
If you do not have the app, cannot sign in, or would rather ask a person, email privacy@yourcardsentry.com. Send it from the email address on your account — that is the first thing we use to check the request is yours. Please include:
- That you want your YourCardSentry account deleted.
- Whether you mean your own account or, if you set up the household, the whole household.
- Your household’s name, if you know it.
Never send a password, a bank login or a card number. We do not need them, and we will never ask for them.
We confirm the request is yours before deleting anything. If it comes from an address that is not on an account, or we cannot otherwise be sure it is yours, we will write back before acting on it. A household is only deleted at its primary’s request.
We will respond within 30 days, as our Privacy Policy commits to, and we will not charge you for asking. Once we delete, it is the same deletion the app performs, with the same results.
What we keep afterwards
A deletion removes your data from YourCardSentry. A few things outlast it:
- Backups, for up to 7 days. Our encrypted database backups roll on a seven-day window, so deleted data can remain in a backup for up to seven days before it ages out.
- A fingerprint of an address we must never contact again. If an email to you bounced, you marked one as spam, or you replied STOP to a text, we keep a one-way fingerprint of that address or number — not the address itself — so that we never mail or text it again.
- A sign-in that could not be removed. If removing a sign-in fails, the rest of the deletion has still happened, and we record the failure and clear it by hand. Until then that login opens nothing, but still holds an email address and a name.
- Payment records at Stripe. Stripe, which processes our payments, keeps the record of what was paid and invoiced, under its own obligations.
- Plaid’s own records. Plaid holds its own relationship with you and keeps data under its own privacy policy. Our connection to your bank is revoked either way.
The full account — what we collect, why, and what survives a deletion — is in our Privacy Policy.
Your subscription
Deleting the household also cancels its YourCardSentry subscription. We bill through Stripe, not through Google Play or the App Store, so there is nothing separate to cancel in a store.
A member deleting their own account does not change the household’s subscription; the primary pays for it.
Before you delete
Download your own copy first. Open your profile in the app and download your data. A copy covers one person, so the primary downloading theirs does not produce one for anybody else — each member has to take their own while the account still exists. Afterwards there is nothing left to export.
There is no undo. No grace period, no recovery window and no restore, not by you and not by us. Questions before you decide go to privacy@yourcardsentry.com.
